Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I buy new underlay?

We strongly recommend the purchase of new underlay with any new carpet because it will give the best comfort and performance, and will also prolong the carpet's life.

The better the quality of the underlay - the better your carpet will perform.

Can I order samples?

We don't provide samples because we bring them to your home - and for free, one of our experienced Home Consultants will show you the samples you require in the comfort of your own home.

What happens if my floor is faulty?

Quality checks are carried out both prior and during fitting, but if you think that your new flooring may be faulty, we will come straight out and inspect it. Of course, if the flooring is faulty we will replace it for you free of charge.

We also offer a 5 year fitting guarantee along with any manufacturer's guarantees for your peace of mind.

Why don't you have products and prices on your web site?

We believe in bringing the flooring to you where you can examine it, touch and feel it in the comfort of your home. We then tailor our selection, delivery and fitting services to your individual needs.

We back all of this with a guarantee to be at least 10% cheaper than the high street.

Pattern or plain?

Plains generally make rooms look larger, but subtle patterns generally work better in smaller spaces, whilst bold designs suit larger areas.

Wool or synthetic?

Carpets are made from wool or man-made fibres as well as a combination of the two. There are features and advantages with both: Wool can be very soft and has natural properties for pile structure retention - Synthetic fibres can add harder wearing and stain resistant benefits.

Is carpet the right choice for my room?

Carpet suits most areas of the home, there are even carpets suitable for bathrooms and kitchens. However, there are also so many more alternatives available today, like Vinyl, Laminate or Real Wood. If in doubt, ask one of our flooring experts to help.

How long will it last?

The amount of footfall across your floor is a major consideration and different fibres and blends can be more hardwearing. Again, we'll be happy to advise you on the right choice.

Can I fit vinyl myself?

It is always best to have any flooring fitted professionally. With vinyl flooring in particular, one small error can ruin the whole finish. It's very important to prepare the floor that it will be fitted on first and to use a template to cut accurately around awkward shapes like wash basin stands. All fitting by simplyflooring.com is automatically guaranteed for 5 years.
